Welcome to the Adult Learning Center web page!
I graduated with a B.S. degree from the
University of Mary. Before
coming to Enemy Swim Day School, I managed a Volunteer Teaching English
Abroad program in China and Mexico for Concordia Language Villages,
Concordia College in Moorhead.
I also worked as a Career Specialist.
I enjoy traveling and learning about other cultures.
I also love working with adults in education!
My husband and I have been married for 32 years and we moved to
Webster from Moorhead in the late autumn of 2009.
We have two grown sons who live in the Seattle area.
Please stop by the Adult Learning Center
or call for information on obtaining your GED, gaining computer skills,
or receiving job readiness training. The Adult Learning Center serves
all adult students, who are 18 years of age or older, in GED
preparation, job readiness, and basic computer software training.
All of the
programs in the Adult Learning Center are operated as job training for
students. Regular students
are expected to maintain 80% attendance.
All students must arrive on time, be prepared to study and use
their time in the ALC productively.
Although part of each day will consist of structured classroom
learning, and part of the day will consist of independent study, the
instruction at the ALC is personalized. The classes are held each
morning. Late mornings,
afternoons, and Fridays are free for independent study.
One-on-one help is available during the independent
study times.
Dakota language and culture classes are
an important part of our class schedule Tuesdays through Fridays.
Cash incentives may be available to
qualified students upon completion of a program.
Items through National Relief Charities are available for study
hours. Breakfast and lunch
are provided for students who meet attendance requirements.
GED students may begin at the start of a
new class session. Students
must attend a
New Student Intake and
have fingerprints turned in prior to beginning classes in the Adult
Learning Center. Intakes
are scheduled on a weekday morning (usually on a Tuesday) and run from
9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for GED students.
Students taking computer training and job readiness are usually
done in an hour. Intakes
are offered in the two weeks prior to a new class session starting.
Class sessions will run approximately 5 to 6 weeks in length.

GED On-the-Job Training Incentive Expectations for Eligibility
Attending the Adult Learning Center is a
step in job training. Students working on GED preparation in the
Adult Learning Center have an opportunity for On-the-Job Training as
well. Community Education provides opportunities for GED students
to receive On-the-Job Training by working in the Out-of-School Time
(OST) Program. Get paid to play and help school age children learn
after school while increasing your job skills and marketability for
future employment. GED Training (attendance) incentives are
available to Community Education employees. Contact Becky
Bergquist, Community Education Director at (605) 947-4605, ext. 3062 or
bbergquist@esds.us for more
information.
